(WJAC) — BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A new animal shelter opened in Bedford County.
The William R. Newman Adoption Center is located on Bohn Road, near the Cessna exit of I-99.
“The facility was a dream of the late Dr. Newman, a community leader and animal lover,” said Kellie Shaffer, president of the Bedford County Chamber of Commerce. “The facility offers state-of-the-art kennels, examination and surgery rooms, office, gift shop and more.”
The Chamber of Commerce held the ribbon cutting Saturday.
Dozens of cats and dogs were moved to the new shelter and are ready to be adopted.
“The ribbon cutting marks the culmination of years of fundraising and hard work by the Humane Society board of directors, staff and community supporters,” Shaffer said.
