Toland the Shattered is an ex-guardian, one of the background characters in Destiny 2. He’s a Warlock who’s gone mad from studying the hive. There’s a daily bounty in Destiny 2 Forsaken called Challenge: The Shattered, that involves finding him. A number of players are having trouble with this, which is why we’ve written this Destiny 2 Toland The Shattered location guide.
Toland Location – September 18th – 25th Week 3
In order to find Toland, you’ll have to get the bounty from Petra, then go to the Spine of Keres – that’s where the Ascendant realm portal is this week. Go into the observatory, exit through the left and follow the path until the end. Jump across the chasm onto the first pillar, then onto the second. The portal will be to the right of the second spire. It’s near the beach where you end up on your first visit to the Dreaming City. You’ll need to drink a Tincture of Queensfoil in order to see it.

It can spawn anywhere, so there’s no use in us posting pictures here. We’ve seen it on the first platform, as well as another place at the base of the tower.
Where to find Toland in Destiny 2?
First off, you’ll have to get the bounty from Petra Venj, the vendor in the Dreaming City. Once you have it, go to the Gardens of Esila, the area south of The Strand. Drink a Tincture of Queensfoil – you’ll need the buff to find the portal. As you pass the gate, you’ll see the paved area with the monument, and a rock outcrop to the left of it. Go around the rocks and climb them until you see the portal. It’s the same one you have to use for this week’s Ascendant Challenge.
Once you’re inside, go under the giant blight and to the right. Follow the path and keep your eyes on the left. There’s a big tree growing from the chasm, with a white orb floating between the branches. That orb is Toland’s souls. Jump onto the tree and wait for the dialogue to start. Toland will call for Osiris, then disappear, and your bounty will be completed.
It’s a nice little nod to a character we’ve known about for a long time now, but it’s not a particularly tough challenge – especially if you’ve been keeping up with the lore. Even if you’ve already visited the ascendant realm this week for the other challenge, you can still go in, so don’t worry about that. You will have to spend an additional bottle of portal juice, though, but you can always buy more from the secret vendors in Dreaming City.
