Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County have filed felony retail theft charges against a Hopewell woman after she allegedly stole $11 worth of bacon from a local Dollar General.
Police say on Sunday, troopers were dispatched to the store, located along Raystown Road in Broad Top Township, for the reported theft.
Troopers say the store manager reportedly witnessed 36-year-old Kelli Snyder enter the store and then leave a short time later without purchasing anything.
Police say the manager was allegedly suspicious of Snyder and claimed that she saw her empty the contents of her purse into her car after leaving the store.
Investigators say the manager reportedly walked to the vehicle and observed two packs of bacon on the seat.
Police say the manager then claimed that she took inventory of the bacon in the store and noted that there were two missing packs.
Authorities say surveillance video from inside the store reportedly showed Snyder take two packs of bacon from the cooler and then move out of sight of the camera.
Police say they then located Snyder at her residence where she reportedly admitted to stealing the two packs of bacon.
Troopers noted that Snyder's criminal history revealed that this was her third offense for retail theft, prompting her to be charged with a felony.
According to court dockets, she was arraigned on the aforementioned charge and released on unsecured bail.
