Named Michael Philip Jagger at birth, the rock and roll legend was born in Dartford, Kent, England on July 26, 1943. Jagger is of English and Australian descent. Her father, Basil Fanshawe ‘Joe’ Jagger, was a teacher of English descent while her mother, Eva Ensley Mary, of Australian and English descent, was a hairdresser and a member of the UK Conservative Party. Mick’s only known sibling is his younger brother and musician, Chris Jagger.
In 1950 Jagger was enrolled at Wentworth Primary School in Dartford. Shortly after passing the 11+ exam in 1954, he was admitted to Dartford Grammar School and graduated in 1961 with 7 O Levels and 3 A Levels. Mick then went on to study at London School of Economics using its government grant. He then quit in 1963 to pursue his dream of becoming a pop star.
Young Michael was raised to tow the teaching career of his father and grandfather, but he had a keen interest in music, especially RNB, who was moved because he always listened to American musician Richard Wayne Penniman, better known as Little Richard. In July 1960, Mick Jagger reunited with his primary school friend and friend, Keith Richards, who had also shared his musical passion at Dartford station. In 1961 Jagger met fellow English musician and guitarist Lewis Brian Jones and together with Keith they moved to London where they shared a rented flat in Edith Grove, Chelsea. The trio founded the musical group “Rolling Stones” shortly after they started practicing together. The name of the group was inspired by a song by Muddy Waters called “Rollin’ Stone”.
