The fire began in Bridgephampton around 10:20 p.m., Friday, June 10 at a home on Fair Hills Lane.
When police and fire personnel arrived a large home on Fair Hills Lane was on fire. Two additional homes caught on fire due to embers from the first residence and a fourth was found to have damage from the fire, said Lt. Susan Ralph, of the Southhampton Police.
A total of 16 volunteer fire departments from as far as Montauk and five volunteer ambulances responded to the scene, Ralph said.
One residence has been lost, one residence sustained severe damage and one moderate. The fourth residence had minor damage, she added.
The homeowners at two of the residences were home, but were able to leave the houses safely, Ralph said.
The fire marshal and Southampton Town detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.
