Rimes was born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi as Margaret LeAnn Rimes and she is the only child of her parents (Wilbur Rimes and Belinda Butler). She was only six when her parents moved to Texas.
LeAnn had always shown an interest in the arts, so her parents signed her up for singing and dancing lessons. Very early, at age five, she was already participating in local shows. His first major musical theater performance was in a Christmas carol performed by a Dallas, Texas production.
After appearing on a Star Search television show created by Alfred Masini and hosted by Ed McMahon, Rimes decided to take up country music.
