Iggy Azalea's 25 Most Delightfully WTF Tweets

The trajectory of Iggy Azalea's career, from the grassroots success of her 2011 Ignorant Art mixtape to the monster success of "Fancy" and the backlash-cum-authenticity debate that followed, has been fascinating to watch. Whether you're a faithful fan or you agree with Macklemore's recently-rapped sentiment that Iggy's "exploited and stolen the music, the moment," there's no denying she's been at the bottom of a social media pile-on or twelve in her day โ€” many of which played out on Twitter.

Macklemore's just one of many artists who've publicly criticized her perceived appropriation of African-American hip hop culture, including-but-not-limited-to Azealia Banks, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Q-Tip and Talib Kweli. Iggy's replied to nearly all of them, ultimately making her partly complicit in feeding the media's feud fetish (the same one she so often condemns). Sometimes her responses are cool-headed; other times they turn defensive. Occasionally they're just plain unfortunate, but her Tweets always represent her unvarnished thought process. Ms. Amethyst Kelly doesn't hide behind a PR mouthpiece โ€” well, she did turn her social accounts over to her management in February of 2015, but that sabbatical was brief. Because Iggy can't be silenced.

And that's how I became so absorbed by Iggy's Twitter account โ€” not for the schadenfreude gained by relishing her professional setbacks, though observing how someone responds to repeated verbal drubbings is interesting. It's more about her irrepressible need to share, as she often tweets a stream of non-sequiturs between intermittent silences, and those can be as charming as a zany text from Mom. It's not fashionable to say, but I find this quality of Iggy's both endearing and, to a point, relatable.

Click the gallery above for Iggy's weirdest thoughts on horse Lyme disease, her fear of opening a parcel full of poop, and Walmart's delicious baked chicken. These aren't carefully-curated missives from one trying to curate a brand (BORING); they're just pure unadulterated Iggy Azalea, as imperfect as we all are. Take them separately and largely without context, as lone transmissions up to the satellites and back, as thoughts floating in space.
