DuBois city council votes to terminate police chief

Two employees in the city of DuBois were terminated at Monday night’s city council meeting.

Former city manager Herm Suplizio and suspended police chief Blaine Clark were both officially terminated and are no longer city employees as of Monday.

Council voted 3 to 2 in favor of terminating both Suplizio and Clark.

Suplizio's firing comes after facing multiple charges related to the alleged embezzlement of over half-a-million dollars from the city of DuBois.

Meanwhile, it's unclear what former chief Clark did to get fired.

Council members Jim Aughenbaugh and Shane Dietz voted against both terminations.

Jennifer Jackson was among the council members that voted in favor of the firings.

We spoke with both Jackson and Dietz about their decisions.

"The city needs to move forward. We need to work on consolidation, and it's just in the best interest of the citizens of this community that we move forward, and this is what needed to be done,” Jackson said.

"On my end, I would like to get more information on why certain things are voted the way that they are. Again, making sure that I’m not getting ahead of myself or ahead of what's best for the city,” Dietz said.

Suplizio's federal case has been delayed another month as his defense team asked for a third extension last week.
