Drunk ATV Driver Indicted For Bellport Crash That Left Woman In Coma, DA Says

Tayquan Mayo-Dunmore, age 30, of Bellport, was indicted on seven charges, including vehicular assault, in Suffolk County Court on Friday, July 7.

The crash happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday, June 10, in Bellport, on Bellport Avenue near Louise Avenue.

Mayo-Dunmore was intoxicated when he lost control of his Kawasaki ATV and crashed, according to the Suffolk County DAs office.

The vehicle flipped over, causing his 26-year-old passenger, Jessilyn Johnson, to strike her head on the pavement.

Johnson was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition and was placed in an induced coma.

Mayo-Dunmore was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue and treated for minor injuries.

Suffolk County Police later determined that the man’s driver’s license was suspended at the time.

In court Friday, Mayo-Dunmore was arraigned on the following charges:

He was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond, and is due back in court on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
